Privacy Policy

This privacy policy ("policy") explains what information the Immigrant Financial Access Project Financial Pathway Calculator ("the calculator," "the tool," "we," "us") collects when you use it, and what it never asks for. This tool has no login and no accounts, so this policy is short: there isn't much to explain.
What We Collect
When you finish using the calculator, we save one anonymous record of that run, containing:
- The figures you entered — paycheck frequency, fee details, money order and ATM usage, remittance activity, and which identification documents you selected.
- The cost breakdown and total the calculator computed from those figures.
- Which alternatives were shown to you (by category and score, not full text), and the illustrative savings figure shown alongside them.
- Your browser's language setting.
- A random identifier generated fresh in your browser each time you use the calculator, not tied to any account or device.
What We Never Collect
No screen in this tool asks for, and no other part of it collects:
- Your name.
- Your email address.
- Your phone number.
- Your home address.
- Your Social Security Number, ITIN, or any ID numbers.
- Your IP address or precise location.
The Identification section of the calculator only records whether a type of document is available (yes/no) — never a number, name, or any detail from the document itself.
Where This Information Goes
The anonymous record described above is saved to a hosted database (Supabase). The website itself can only add a new record to it — it cannot read back, search, edit, or delete anything that has been submitted, including its own. Only the tool's operators, using separate administrator credentials never present in the website's code, can view this data, and only in aggregate.
Saving this record never blocks or delays the calculator. If the database is unreachable, you still get your results, and nothing is retried or shown to you as an error.
Why We Collect It
The only reason any of this is saved is to understand, in aggregate across everyone who uses the calculator, which costs and situations come up most often, so the tool can be improved over time. It is never used to identify, contact, profile, or make a decision about any individual person, and it is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.
Cookies and Tracking
This site does not use cookies, ad trackers, or analytics scripts of any kind.
Third-Party Services
Like almost any website, this page's own code and fonts are delivered by outside infrastructure providers (a Tailwind CSS delivery service, Google Fonts, Fontshare, and standard code-hosting CDNs). Loading a file from any of these exposes standard, low-level web request information to that provider, the same as it would for any website. None of these providers ever receive anything you type into the calculator; they only ever serve the page's own styling and fonts. The database described above (Supabase) is the only service that ever receives what you enter into the calculator.
Retention and Your Options
Because no submission is tied to a name, account, device, or any other identifying detail, there is no way for us or anyone else to find "your" specific submission among everyone else's in order to show it to you or delete it individually. This is a direct consequence of never collecting who you are in the first place, not a limitation on a request you'd otherwise be able to make.
Children's Privacy
This tool is intended for use by caseworkers, case managers, and adult clients of nonprofit financial counseling programs. It is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, beyond what is described above.
Changes to This Policy
If what this tool collects or how it's used ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change to reflect it. There is no separate notice list to sign up for, since no contact information is ever collected to send one to.
